Winter

--Finish fall semester strong--grades to matter.
--Start spring semester strong.
Explore your interests.
--use your www.cfnc.org account to explore your interests and abilities
--complete all "assignments" during seminar to learn about yourself
--attend LUNCH sessions to learn more about the various options/opportunities
Start the parent/student college going conversation--location options and finance options
--Begin a college savings plan
Spring
Keep Track
--Begin keeping track of your high school activities (CFNC has a tracking tool): Academics, rewards, extra-curricular activities, etc. so you don't have to try and remember then later.
Begin learning about college
--Begin considering the various aspects of college and campus to develop your "must have" criteria
(small, big, city, country, certain programs, certain activities, teacher ration, 2 year vs 4 year, etc.) Begin a list of these criteria--be prepared to revise them as you change.
--Begin visiting local college campus to get a feel of what's available in a general sense.
--10th grade course selection--choose rigorous courses, meet with your counselor to review
recommendations and goals. Read the high school course guide for options and course
descriptions
Make Summer count
--build your resume with summer employment, volunteering, or enrichment activities
